THE FINISHING TOUCH. : Page 144
Deeper Oil Finish.—Two parts of turpentine, four parts of linseed oil and one part of cherry stain, mixed thoroughly and rubbed well into the rattan, will make a rather darker finish. This as well as the other oil finishes may be used to polish the rattan before it is woven into baskets.
Green Oil Finish.—A light yellow green — a green with life in it—is made with twelve parts of turpentine, nine parts of linseed oil and malachite green stain, added drop by drop until the right shade is secured. In using this, as other stains and dyes, it is wise to try the color on a bit of rattan before putting it on the basket.
